LocalizeAI — AI-Powered WordPress Translation Plugin

Translate your WordPress site automatically. Performance-first, fully self-hosted, with zero word caps.

The Smarter Way to Go Multilingual

Most translation plugins make you choose between speed and simplicity. Either you pay expensive monthly SaaS subscriptions with strict word limits, or you deal with JavaScript widgets that butcher your SEO. LocalizeAI was built to solve both problems at once.

Bring your own Google Translate, DeepL, or Microsoft Azure API key — and translate your entire WordPress site for fractions of a cent per word, with no middleman, no quotas, and no recurring fees. Every translation is stored directly in your own database. You own it completely.

Why Site Owners Choose LocalizeAI

Your data never leaves your hands. Every translated string is written straight into your WordPress database. Deactivate the plugin tomorrow and your translated content remains on your site forever — no lock-in, no hostage data.

No word caps. Ever. Translate 5,000 words or 5 million. LocalizeAI never limits your volume or forces you into a premium tier just to keep translating.

Built for performance. Translation processing runs silently in the background via a native WP Cron queue engine. Your admin panel stays responsive, your server never times out, and your front-end pages load instantly from cached local content.

Real SEO, not a widget. Unlike JavaScript overlay translation tools that search engines largely ignore, LocalizeAI renders translated pages fully server-side — clean, crawlable HTML with accurate hreflang tags baked in. Your international pages get indexed properly.

How It Works

  1. Install and activate the plugin from your WordPress dashboard
  2. Run the onboarding setup wizard — takes under two minutes
  3. Enter your own translation API key (Google Translate, DeepL, or Azure)
  4. Select your target language and publish

From that point forward, LocalizeAI queues your content automatically. Every 30 seconds, the background cron engine picks up pending translation jobs, sends them to your chosen API, and writes the results back into your database — all without touching your front-end performance or blocking the admin UI.

Your Data, Your API, Your Rules

LocalizeAI connects to your chosen translation provider only when a translation job runs — never during normal front-end page views. The only data sent is the text you’ve selected for translation, your source and target language settings, and your own API key. Nothing is routed through our servers. You are always in direct contact with Google, DeepL, or Azure under your own account and their respective terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from other popular translation plugins?
The biggest difference is ownership and cost model. Other plugins either charge you a monthly subscription based on word volume, or they render translations dynamically from their own cloud servers — meaning if you ever cancel, your translations disappear. LocalizeAI stores everything in your own database using your own API key. The cost of translation goes directly to Google, DeepL, or Azure at their standard API rates, which are a fraction of what SaaS translation tools charge.

Will it slow down my site?
No. All translation processing happens in the background. By the time a visitor loads a page, the translated content is already sitting in your database like any other local WordPress content. It works seamlessly with caching plugins.

What happens to my translations if I deactivate the plugin?
They stay. All translated content is stored as standard WordPress data. Deactivating or uninstalling LocalizeAI does not remove your translations.

Do I need a paid API plan?
You need a Google Cloud account (or DeepL/Azure account for Pro) with a valid API key. Google Translate API operates on a pay-as-you-go model with generous free tier allowances and very low per-character costs beyond that. For most small to mid-sized sites, the monthly API cost is negligible.
